Unfilled positions in state hospitals, correctional facilities spike during Hogan’s term in office

 BALTIMORE – Community members, elected officials, patient families and AFSCME Maryland members will gather for a press conference Wednesday, September 27 at 4:30 p.m. Attendees and speakers will demand action from Governor Hogan to address the conditions in many of the dangerously understaffed facilities on the Eastern Shore.

“Despite the alarming increase in staff vacancies during his term as governor, Larry Hogan has refused to address this growing public health and safety crisis,” Jazzmen S. Knoderer, a spokeswoman for AFSCME Maryland said. “Residents on the Eastern Shore deserve to know why Governor Hogan is turning his back on the hardworking women and men who provide essential services to the community.”

AFSCME Maryland and community members will keep the pressure on Governor Hogan’s administration to fill vacancies impacting public services on the Eastern Shore.
