Bargaining Update: December 19th

Bargaining Update: December 19th

One Session Left.

AFSCME Maryland's elected bargaining team has met with Governor Hogan's representatives for the fourth time yesterday, December 18th. At this meeting, state negotiators proposed no real raise increase.

We have one bargaining meeting left scheduled for next Monday, December 23rd 2019. State negotiatiators have passed a number of bonus proposals and we are still waiting for a response from management on a number of proposals.

No matter what happens at the negotiation table, our union is going to continue to fight for the raises Maryland State Employees deserve during the upcoming 2020 Legislative Session. As vacacnies continue to rise in agencies across the State, it is critical that we begin to address the staffing crisis.

Our union has a plan to fight the staffing crisis and one of the key solutions is competitive wages. We will update you Monday, after our last session, with more information nextr week.

In the meantime, our union is preparing for the 2020 legislative session by planning our first mobilization. We need to come together and start the legislative session by filling the streets of Annapolis! Join us on Tuesday, January 14th in Annapolis.
