3% Cost of Living Adjustment in Effect July 1st, 2019

3% COLA IN EFFECT

This week, the 3% Cost of Living Adjustment AFSCME members won and secured during the Legislative Session goes into effect. Congratulations! Thank you to every member who came to a rally, lobbied in Annapolis or called and wrote letters or emails to your elected officials. Your hard work is the reason we won this increase.

You'll see the first increase on the Wednesday,  July 10th, 2019 pay date. Only hours worked after July 1st will be at the new rate so your next check will see a partial benefits of the increase. All Correctional Officers, as well as Correctional Case Managers, will see the additional 4% COLA on the same timeline.

AFSCME Maryland, which represents all public service employees in this state, is the largest and fastest growing union in the State of Maryland. By advocating, lobbying and organizing, we won an additional revenue contingent 3% scheduled in two parts for January 2020 and July 2020. We need to fight to protect these raises. Our strength comes from numbers and having members involved and active.

Susie, a shop steward from Motor Vehicles Administration and a three year employee, talks about the fight for a raise, "Without the union, we wouldn't have gotten this increase. I'm ready to keep fighting for more next year and I've spent the past few months visitng other locations to inform my co-workers and make sure we're ready to win again next year."

Are you ready to join the fight? When we work together, we win together. We are powered by our members and that’s why we’re asking you to make sure you're a member or,  if you're already a member, make sure you are signed up for our email list and like and follow our page on facebook!
