State Contract for Units A, B, C, D, F, and H Ratified!

Great news! Yesterday, AFSCME members ratified our new contract for state workers in Units A, B, C, D, F, and H in a sweeping vote.

Below are the results of the ratification vote:

  • Unit A: 98% voted in favor.
  • Unit B: 99% voted in favor.
  • Unit C: 99% voted in favor.
  • Unit D: 100% voted in favor.
  • Unit F: 99% voted in favor.
  • Unit H: 99% voted in favor.

Thanks to the hard work of the AFSCME Maryland bargaining team and everyone who voted, we have secured pay increases, additional benefits, and a number of workplace improvements in this new agreement.

You can find a copy of the tentative agreements here and a full summary of what we’ve won in this new contract.

In the coming weeks, new copies of the contracts will be made available on our website.

Below are the pay increases you can expect starting this July:

  • 3% COLA (cost of living adjustment)
  • Step increase (your hire date will determine when this goes into effect)
  • Shift differential increase to $1

And for those who have been continuously employed with the State since June 30, 2019, you will be receiving an additional “longevity” step increase that will go into effect in January.

In addition, we have won improved leave policies, stronger health and safety protections, improved investigation procedures, expanded bonuses for eligible Unit H employees, increased bilingual pay, reimbursement for costs of required licensure/accreditation/certification, and more!

Once again, thank you to the incredible members of our AFSCME Maryland bargaining team for your tireless advocacy at every negotiations session. And thank you to all the AFSCME members who took action, shared our bargaining updates, and got involved. That’s the power of our union!
