Our Fight in Annapolis: 2022 Recap

Since January of 2022, we have been lobbying the Maryland General Assembly to pass HB90/SB255 – a bill that would authorize collective bargaining for ALL OPD employees, core staff, social workers, and attorneys alike.

We lobbied legislators in Annapolis

about why collective bargaining is

needed to build a better OPD.

We filed HB90/SB255, the bill that

would authorize collective bargaining

for all OPD employees!

We testified in front of the House and Senate Budget Committees,

showing our Delegates and Senators that this legislation

is vital to providing Marylanders with the services they deserve.

The Senate Finance Committee

voted the bill out of committee favorably

and sent it to the full General Assembly!

The Collective Bargaining Bill passed out of the House of Delegates!

The Collective Bargaining Bill passed out of the Senate

with testimony from Sen. Kramer (District 19, Montgomery Co-D)!

The Maryland General Assembly Passed the Bill and sent it to Governor Hogan's Desk!

Governor Hogan Vetoed the Bill but the Maryland General Assembly overrode the veto
