The 2024 Maryland Legislative Session concluded at midnight on Monday, April 8, and our union has a lot to celebrate!

For the first time, our contract covering 20,000 state employees in Units A, B, C, D, F, and H contains language allowing us to have five Chief Stewards!

Bargaing Update: December 5th Session

Today, our elected bargaining team met with the Hogan Administration for our second bargaining session over economic topics for bargaining units A, B, C, D, F, and H. 

The State offered no wage proposal for the second straight session.

Community Services in Crisis: Maryland Deserves Better

Everybody knows the lack of staff in our facilities hurts AFSCME members and the people we serve. The legislature knows and the people of Maryland know. We are fighting for our communities and the residents of Maryland. AFSCME Council 3 members and community allies called out the Hogan Administration’s staffing crisis in emergency joint hearings called by the Senate Budget & Taxation and House Appropriations Committees in Annapolis.

Brothers and Sisters,

Today, AFSCME Maryland Council 3, is in mourning at the loss of U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings who represented Maryland's 7th District including Baltimore City, County and Howard County who passed away on October 17th, 2019. He was first elected to that office in 1996 after serving in the Maryland House of Delegates for 14 years.
