DHMH Workers Meet to Improve
Staffing & Security
AFSCME members from across the state met with DHMH management to push for improved staffing, increased safety for workers and patients, and much more.
Employees who did not receive a paycheck at all should have already been reached out
to by management about emergency checks. Employees who did not receive full OT or
Shift Differential payments should see it corrected in next pay period. Any employee
seeing continued issues should call 410.767.5467. Management will issue a
communication clearing timekeeping questions.
Potomac Center Assaults
The Secretary is looking into to the short‐staffing issue. Currently nearly 15% of nursing department is out on leave as a result of an injury from an assault. DHMH was unwilling
to commit to a specialized training agenda for our forensic clients.
DHMH announced that they are pursuing collaboration with the DGS to merge security functions between the two departments. They also announced that a facility
security study would be coming by July 1, 2016.
Clinical Review Panel Survey
DHMH will be looking into CRPs in BHA, as well as involuntary treatment procedures in DDA.
Access to State ID’s
ID’s should be coming to employees in East/West in next few months.
