Heather Seek works as a Direct Care Trainee at the Potomac Center in Hagerstown, MD.
Heather, who provides great services for clients at the hospital, was surprised when she was unfairly terminated with no warning during her probationary period.
Probation is when workers can decide if the job is a good fit for them while supervisors evaluate job performance and offer feedback to improve if needed.
Heather was unfairly terminated and contacted her union, AFSCME Maryland, Council 3. AFSCME reached an amicable agreement with management and Heather was reinstated with full 3 months back pay ($5,418.88). Her time served and benefits were restored as well.
In January, Heather will obtain her degree and become a Registered Nurse!
If you think your rights at work have been denied at work contact AFSCME Maryland.
